Planets

New Carpathia consists of three planets. There are also other planets occupied by other nations. Let's take a look!

New Berengaria

Before there was the nation of New Carpathia, there was a small island called Berengaria in the south Pacific, which was a US territory, and it was human-only. In 1984, they declared independence from the USA. Then-President Reagan said, "They'll come crawling back." Then he took a nap and forgot all about it.

It wasn't long after that the people of Berengaria discovered a portal gate on their island and found a new planet with it, which they dubbed New Berengaria, an Earth-like planet abundant in minerals and long-abandoned space-faring technology of an ancient civilization. The Berengarian government tried their best to keep the gate secret from other nations. It took a few decades, but other nations finally found out about it. Facing imminent invasion, the Berengarians fled to New Berengaria and blew up the Earth gate.

There, they named their new nation, The New Carpathia Commonwealth of Planets, but most people simply call it "Carpathia." For a time, it was just one planet, but the people had eyes on finding and colonizing other, uninhabited worlds. To this day, Carpathia has no formal relations with any nation on Earth.

The planet itself is very Earth-like mostly, with a wide variety of landscapes. The average temperature is slightly colder and the days are slightly longer. It is roughly 65% water on the surface.

Major cities:
Carpathia City (Capital) - Over 12 million
Nephele - Over 5 million

Andrast

Andrast is the first planet discovered by Carpathia after New Berengaria. When they found it, there was a species already living there, the nekomi, who were very eager to make friends. Andrast serves as the secondary capital of Carpathia in case the regular one is inaccessible.

Andrast is divided into two major regions. One is the original nekomi region, known as Shenah, which is now a semi-autonomous area in Carpathia. The other is the Carpathian settlement. The nekomi have limited rights to govern themselves in their own land and most of their efforts go into preserving their cultural heritage. Once, the nekomi had a population of two billion. Now they have dwindled to a mere three million.

Overall, Andrast is extremely wet and humid. It looks very green from space, but much of that is dotted with lakes and swamps. Average temperatures are higher than Earth or New Berengaria.

Major cities:
Starlight City (Nekomi) - 3.2 million
Isen - 5.1 million

Ramewet

Ramewet is not a planet, but a moon of a gas giant known as Amphitrite. Ramewet is a moon in the middle of a massive environmental transition. 170 years ago, there was very little water on the surface due to a malfunctioning portal generator that was using the moon itself as a battery. When it was destroyed, the moon suddenly reverted to normal. Over thousands of years, flora and fauna had adapted to the arid conditions and now they have to adapt again to the newly moist conditions. It is taking time, but the moon is slowly returning to its natural state.

Ramewet was originally the homeworld of the nekomi. They were driven out by the tokki, who built the portal generator. This technology failed, but it was left running and pulled species from many worlds to it. Now, Ramewet is inhabited by a wide variety of species, including elves, nekomi, humans, bats, demons, and komodo.

Ramewet is a semi-autonomous territory of New Carpathia.

Draconis

At first glance, one would think that there is no civilization on Draconis. This is, however, the homeworld of the dragons and they live underground. Above ground, the planet is very mountainous and cold. Only the equator has a climate that would be reasonably comfortable for a human.

Carpathia first began to settle Draconis, thinking that no intelligent life was there, but discovered the dragons later. They became friends and the dragons allowed the humans to keep a small colony on the planet.

Tokkastra

Tokkastra is the homeworld of the tokki, a rabbit-like race, and had billions of inhabitants, nearly all of whom live in the massive cities. Between the cities is mostly undeveloped land. Even farming is done in skyscrapers in the cities themselves. The capital is Valefor, a city of hundreds of millions. Tokkastra is relatively small for an inhabited planet and has a lower level of gravity than all of the above planets. Tokki who visit other worlds tend to feel very weary of the high gravity on other planets, but soon grow strong as they adapt.

Cytosia

The planet of the blob creatures, also known as cytos. These creatures are highly adaptable to even the harshest environments. They can squish their bodies to narrow shapes to squeeze into cracks in the ground and can fashion themselves into umbrella-like shapes to take off into space, where they can survive for quite some time. Their playful antics in space with the asteroids have prevented the rocks from forming a moon or ring system. Their bodies consist, to a large extent, of a glue-like substance that they can expel in self defence.
